Wacom Tablet Test - Run

Description

Like I said in my journal, the update in the school's 24 hour lab computers no longer accept my monoprice tablet without being able to install the driver myself. And school won't let me do that so.... a friend was kind enough to loan me the wacom they don't use much anymore for the school year.

It's taking some getting used to. The surface area is half the size of my old one and the pen is different feeling. As you can probably tell with the line art, I had an adjustment period. Really I did this entire drawing. But I got better over time. It's good to have the normal color of these 24 hour computers back ( as well as their huge screens). It means I don't have to transfer a drawing to my phone to make sure the colors are correct all the time. (Unless I'm working on my personal computer.)

Anyway enjoy the Dark Marauder fleeing for whatever reason

Feel free to take my critique and use it.

Personally, I don't think you should have cropped the tip of the cape off as well as the hand. Additionally, the actual light on the right arm gauntlet is a little out of place, it would only do that if there were two light sources, but you clearly have one coming from the right-bottom, so the shine should be closer to the centre of the arm. I personally think that the body armour at the chest should be darker because it's enduring more of a shadow due to the arm in front of it and the cape over it. I also believe that you need to differentiate your clothing materials, it's hard to tell what is fabric, metal, or leather because the shading and texture is the same throughout. I understand that you're not used to the new tablet, and it's going to take some getting use to, but this image looks remarkably similar to your other work, so i wouldn't be too concerned.

Another thing that strikes me as strange is the way you made the fabric for the cape and hood look. It's hard to tell if it's tattered or folded, and the strange blob that's formed from the side of the hood is off putting. Advice to you, think about how the fabric would lay in a not-so-action pose, a standing one. Would this flab of fabric lay over the characters face? Or is it part of the back of the hood? Either way, having this amalgamation protruding from the hood is very strange.

I understand that this is your style, but I feel that it's way to similar to your work from a couple years ago, it's a shame I haven't seen too much of an improvement. I adore your work, and hope you learn a lot this coming year and that it helps you improve more dramatically.
